PUMPKIN MAGIC

(a new poem for Halloween)

PUMPKIN POT MAGIC

When I take the lid off my pumpkin pot

All is not as it seems.

Inside my pumpkin soup pot

Lies a world of stars and dreams.

As I stir up the soup in my pumpkin

Spells dance upon my spoon.

I breathe in the pumpkin magic

And wish upon the moon.

I hear the breath of autumn mists,

And smell the autumn leaves.

I drop in a sprinkle of fairy dust

And a flash of fantastical dreams.

I stir in a million wishes,

All I need to let me fly

Like a whooshing, flashing meteor,

A firework in the sky.

I dance through the stars in the Milky Way,

Hold a comet by the tail.

Hop around Orion’s belt

And float with Cetus the Whale.

So, go, take the lid off your pumpkin pot

And join in this pumpkin game.

Breathe in the pumpkin magic

And follow a comet’s flame.
