APRIL: It’s a bit blustery today, after a flash of summer took us all by surprise, including the wildlife! My garden is full of wild flowers and blossom, and beautiful spring scents. I haven’t posted any poems for a while, so here are a couple of Spring poems. First up is Garden’s Make me Smile, followed by New, The Colours of Spring, and Dandelion Universe. Happy Springtime to you all
GARDENS MAKE ME SMILE
A smile for a pretty primrose,
A smile for the birds that sing.
A smile for a beaming daffodil,
nodding its way to spring.
***
A smile for a carpet of bluebells.
A smile for the lushness of grass.
A smile for a meadow of cowslips
their scent, like a dream, as I pass.
***
A smile for a cluster of forget-me-nots.
As blue as a summer sky.
A smile for a day of sunshine,
now winter has passed on by.

NEW
The soil warms.
Spring cracks through
armed with green
spiked spears.
Snowdrop armies
gather ground.
Birds slip the harsh
grip of winter air,
pair and soar
in cloudless skies.
Bees venture out
to buzz the meadows
for cowslips. Primrose.
and celandine.
Buds unfold plump pink
and white blossom.
Ponds stir. Frogs leap
and spawn new life.

THE COLOURS OF SPRING
Where the moss turns green
and softens the lawn,
Spring has a spring in its step.
**
Where yellow daffodils
and primrose beam
Spring has a spring in its step.
**
Where purple aubretia
pops out from the wall
Spring has a spring in its step
**
Where magnolia buds
bloom pink in the tree,
Spring has a spring in its step.
**
Where new life begins,
in colourful joy,
Spring has a spring in its step.

DANDELION UNIVERSE
Beaming in the Springtime fields,
golden yellow flowers.
***
Leaves that look like lion’s teeth,
with special healing powers.
***
The flower blooms a glow of sun.
The seed heads like the moon.
***
Those perfect globes of gossamer
are here and gone too soon.
***
Dispersing, puffs as light as air,
a million tiny stars,
***
floating across the open fields,
replanting wide and far.
