CREATURE THOUGHTS
I’VE GOT
Ants in my pants
That make me wriggle.
I’ve got beans in my jeans
That make me giggle.
I’ve got rocks in my socks
That weigh a ton.
Kangaroos in my shoes
For bouncing fun.
I’ve got a pest in my vest
That gives me an itch.
And a racket in my jacket
like a cackling witch.
How about you?

ANIMAL CLOTHING
Kangaroos dance in funky shoes.
Elephants prance in fancy pants.
Polar bears twirl in underwear.
The Lionesses whirl in dresses.
The sloth likes to hang in a loincloth.
Giraffes are a gang in scarves.
Whales blow in top hat and tails.
While fish like to flow in tissue.
Monkeys swing in onesies.
Peacocks look bling in their frocks.
Hyenas slink in bikinis.
Owls sit and blink in soft towels.
Dolphins come alive in moleskin.
Seals like to dive in heels.
Penguins flap in sequins.
Rats do a rap in hats.

COLLECTIVE RHINO SKATING
Across the ice a marvellous sight,
A group of Rhinos all in flight.
Sliding, gliding, one leg in the air,
Forwards, backwards, oh what flair.
Horns are bound to form a row.
Rhino skaters in their flow.
Dainty on their feet and light.
In a spin, a dazzling sight.
But ‘oops’ they all forgot one thing –
Whilst spinning in a perfect ring,
Unless you drop the horns that bind,
A Crash of Rhinos you will find!

STICK INSECT QUESTIONS
Are stick insects, clever sticks?
Do stick insects stick together?
Do they stick up for themselves?
And do stick insects stick up for each other?
Do they stick around in all kinds of weather?
Do stick insects stick to the plan?
Do stick insects stick to their guns?
Do they stick out from the crowd?
Is a stick insect a stick in the mud?
Do stick insects stick their necks out?
Just a few questions about Stick insects.
Have you got any ?

I added this poem to my blog sometime ago, but I thought I would also group it in with these creature poems.
SNUG AS A BUG
Caterpillar larvae curled in a chrysalis
Spiders nestled near sticky webs
Beetles buried in leafy litter
Bed bugs cosy in your bed!
Earwigs hide in handy hollows
Ants beneath the bark are snug
Woodlice in the woodpile – all
As snug as bugs in a rug.

SLUG SLIME
Slug slime isn’t like grime
You just can’t wash it away.
Once you have touched it
All oozy and slimy
It stays on your skin all day.
You can wash it and slosh it
With soap and hot water
Scrub it and rub it but still,
Once you have touched it
All oozy and slimy
It sticks to your skin
With a will.

HIPPO-WARENESS
This river horse can run a mile,
But never in a lumbering style.
Don’t be fooled, to say the least
The Hippo is a dangerous beast.
Its charge is like a light brigade.
You can’t outrun a Hippo’s rage.
At thirty miles an hour on land;
Please find a tree – you understand!?
In water they are just as scary.
So, if you’re near their pool be wary.
An angry pod will flip a boat
And snap up all that’s left afloat!
Don’t underestimate this beast.
You may not be his choice of feast,
But their jaws are big, their bite is worse.
And this is the end of my Hippo-ware verse.
