A LITTLE BIT OF SPRING MAGIC

In moonshine light we watched the Fairies dance.

We hid among the trees and heard them sing

With ancient words and in a lunar trance

They sang their magic songs to welcome Spring.

___

They turned the moon from silver into gold,

And wrapped the empty trees in swathes of green.

They swallowed up the chill of winter’s hold,

and from their arms sent sunshine to the scene

___

They sprung the daffodils from underground,

And opened up the flower hearts for bees.

Cast waking spells among the sleeping buds

Of blossom in the hedgerows and the trees.

___

We watched spellbound, this spectacle unfold.

This carnival of Springtime all around

As Fairies waved their magic wands and filled

The waking world, with colour and with sound.
