15th/16th December

MY DAY AS A REINDEER

Up very early

grab a quick bite.

Plenty to do

for our flight tonight.

***

Off to the factory

to load up the sleigh.

So many presents.

It took us all day!

***

Presents for children.

Grannies and mothers.

Sisters and fathers.

Uncles and brothers.

**

Now all of us reindeers

are stamping to go.

Then Santa arrives

with a HO, HO, HO!

***

Up in the air

we soar in the sleigh.

It’s loaded and heavy

and makes the sleigh sway.

***

First presents delivered.

There are millions more.

but our load’s getting lighter

with each passing door.

***

Just before dawn

with all presents done,

we head to the north

for our own Christmas fun.

FIRST STAR

The first star in the sky tonight,

over the roof-tops shining bright.

a star that sits at the top of the tree

shining down on my family and me.
