11th- 13th December – poems for Christmas!
WHY CHRISTMAS PUDDINGS CAN BE DANGEROUS!
Mum made a Christmas pudding
I said it looks quite stodgy.
Mum told me that in her day,
Eating it was dodgy!
***
She said,, when she was younger
every Christmas Day ,
a Christmas pudding treasure hunt
was always underway.
***
Because, the pud her mum made
had more in it than honey.
Stirred in with the mixture
was a little bit of money!
***
A thru-penny bit and a sixpence,
washed, and with a shine,
were put in there for luck, she said,
for her and her brother to find.
***
Mum gobbled down her portion
to beat her brother Ted,
But, apparently, she ate too fast
and swallowed them instead!
***
She ended up in hospital,
an X-ray showed the money
was on its way to being expelled
eased by the runny honey!
***
There, I said, I know why
Christmas pudding is not my thing.
It’s dangerous to eat it
when it’s full of shiny bling!

WISHING
Catch a glow of star-shine
shifting through the trees.
***
A whisper from the north pole
carried on the breeze.
***
Add a chime of sleigh bells,
with a wish or two.
***
Keep them in your pocket.
We hope your dreams come true.

WHY IS SANTA’S BEARD SO WHITE?
Why is Santa’s beard so white
when he slides down chimneys on Christmas night?
It should be covered with soot, and dusty,
smell of smoke, and something musty.
So why is his beard as white as snow?
The reason, should you like to know,
Santa’s secret, so we hear –
he grows a new one, every year!
HO, HO, HO!
